March 2023

In this issue we are providing updates on MWS Migration to SP-API, announcing a few new marketplace launches, and giving you guidance on how to best work with our Developer Support team.

MWS Migration to SP-API

We have successfully migrated over 90% of all MWS traffic to SP-API as a result of our 2022 public developer migration. We are now focusing efforts to migrate our MWS private app developer population to SP-API, with updated due dates shared in January in this announcement.

We encourage all private MWS developers to begin implementing plans to complete actions by these due dates to avoid service disruptions later this year. Additional resources such as FAQs, Migration Guides, and video tutorials with information about integrating with SP-API, as well as utilizing a third-party application from our Selling Partner Appstore, are available within the SP-API Migration Hub.

Optimizing your support

Reminder about best practices in providing upfront information when opening cases for support. Developer Support is experiencing delays in being able to provide required support because cases are pending response from Developers with required information to adequately troubleshoot their issue.

We prefer Developers to open cases through amazon.developerservices.com this will improve their experience with their case being directly routed to Developer Support but also requires extended information up front to prevent delays with resolution. Developers should know that if they do not provide a response within 3 business days (Monday - Friday are considered business days) the case will be resolved due to lack of response.

Delivery Experience (DEX) API

Business customers expect the same shopping convenience and on-time deliveries as consumers, but they also expect sellers to adhere to their delivery preferences (e.g. delivered during business hours, to a preferred area per instructions). Today neither sellers or carriers have visibility on these requirements and ~30% of business delivery defects are related to sellers/carriers not following these instructions. On February 15, we are adding new attributes to the existing Orders API to help Amazon sellers grow their B2B sales with improved delivery capabilities.

By calling GetOrderAddress, sellers will now have access to Order Type, Address Type, Customer Address Delivery Days and Hours, Customer Holidays, Delivery Instructions, Company Name and Pallet Delivery Info. By getting access to customer preferences, sellers will be able to choose the appropriate shipping services, reducing delivery reattempts and minimizing packages lost or stolen due to unattended deliveries.

Announcing the Multi-Channel Fulfillment Outbound API Sandbox

Beginning March 29, 2023, Multi-Channel Fulfillment (MCF) is excited to announce the World-Wide launch of the Outbound API Sandbox. The Dynamic MCF Outbound Sandbox provides a secure space for developers to test their code integrations, build proof-of-concept applications, and explore the capabilities of the off-Amazon fulfillment process without interfering with production systems. The Outbound API Sandbox allows, developers to experiment with the Fulfillment Outbound APIs in an isolated environment that mimics production responses, giving them the confidence to know that their code works before shipping products to MCF.

Key benefits:
    1. Safe and Controlled Environment: Developers can test their code without any risk of interfering with production systems, reducing the possibility of introducing bugs or other issues that could impact their buyer experience.
    2. Time and Cost Savings: With the ability to quickly and easily test code integrations and features, developers will save time and reduce the costs associated with testing their code using Amazon’s production fulfillment network.
    3. Reduce Go to Market Time: Sandbox virtual order fulfillment completes in under 5 minutes, seconds if the developer automates the test process versus using production fulfillment which average four days based on standard shipping.
    4. Catalog Not Required: Developers can test their code using ANY Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) to virtually create and fulfill MCF orders in the sandbox.
    5. Sample Code: The sandbox includes both Happy Path and Non-Happy Path order fulfillment scenarios providing developers a head start with their code in the form of a Postman Collection.
    6. Easy Access: Making calls to the sandbox is identical to making production calls except the developer direct calls to the Selling Partner API dynamic sandbox endpoints for their region. The MCF Outbound Sandbox reacts to your input with dynamic responses that mimic Amazon production.
By launching the MCF Outbound Sandbox, we're demonstrating our commitment to supporting developers in their efforts to build innovative solutions based on our off-Amazon order fulfillment solution.
