About QuickBooks

Intuit is a business software company founded in Palo Alto in 1983. At the time, the company’s founders predicted that computers would soon replace paper-and-pencil accounting. In response, they developed some of the first software for personal finance and tax preparation.

Today, Intuit QuickBooks helps small and medium-sized businesses around the world by providing software and services related to accounting, payments, data and insights, and more.
At Intuit, our mission is to power property around the world. QuickBooks delivers on that mission by providing small businesses with an integrated platform to help them make better, more informed decisions as they grow.

Integrating QuickBooks and Amazon

QuickBooks helps businesses streamline their operations and see important data in one place. For many, that includes a significant amount of Amazon data.

"It’s imperative for small businesses to have one centralized place where they can see the status of their business and its operations.”

When Amazon migrated to SP-API, QuickBooks built an API-powered integration for its e-commerce customers. The goal was to get everything—sales, inventory, expenses, bookkeeping—onto one platform. QuickBooks analyzed the available APIs and selected the ones that would create the best possible integration for its customers, both now and in the future.

APIs used

An Amazon integration powered by SP-API

QuickBooks supports Amazon sellers with seamless data gathering and centralized reporting. The QuickBooks Online app, available in the Selling Partner Appstore, allows users to connect their Amazon sales channels and send e-commerce data to QuickBooks.

The app uses API integrations like Catalog, Reports, and Orders to automatically pull sales data and other metrics. It allows businesses to see everything in one place, run accurate reports, and gain insights into revenue, expenses, and profitability by sales channel.

From manual reporting to centralized data

Without the QuickBooks integration, Amazon merchants might spend hours each month manually recording their e-commerce data. They might even have to pay for third-party apps to help them integrate with QuickBooks. In addition to being costly, these workarounds are less reliable than automated, streamlined data transfers to a centralized platform.

“We want to provide merchants with a reliable single source of truth for their data, so no costly or time- consuming data reconciliation is required.”

Helping businesses succeed

Amazon sellers that use the QuickBooks integration have had positive feedback, reporting improvements in functionality and ease of use. The integration also makes it easier for sellers to reconcile financial data, report transactions to their bank, and prepare their taxes.
A key component of the QuickBooks mission is to help small and medium-sized businesses prepare for growth by getting a handle on their data and operations. In the future, QuickBooks plans to build API-powered tools that provide even greater detail into e-commerce metrics for its customers, so they can make more informed business decisions as they grow.
